OTHER TASKS
Task 11: Additional Monitoring/Contingency
Should construction be delayed and more than 10 days elapse between a bird survey and the
commencement of construction, it would be necessary to conduct an additional nesting bird
survey of the area. Additionally, should an active nest be found near a construction area, it may
be necessary to have a qualified biologist onsite to monitor the nest and determine if it is being
disturbed by nearby construction activities. Supplemental visits may also be required to flag
nesting trees and other unexpected tasks may become necessary.
Task 12: Project Management
Pacific Biology will coordinate with the City of Pleasanton regarding the construction schedule of
each project segment and be available to answer questions from the City and coordinate with
CDFW as required. Pacific biology will also oversee the survey and monitoring schedule,
ensuring that all requirements are satisfied prior to construction commencement.
ASSUMPTIONS
Time and Materials: All work would be conducted on a time and materials, not to exceed basis.
Therefore, the proposed budget represents the maximum anticipated project cost and each task
may not require use of the entire allotted budget. Should a task exceed the estimated budget, a
budget amendment would be required taking the below assumptions into consideration.
Frac-Out Inspector: For the purposes of this scope and budget it is assumed that the Frac-Out
Inspector could be required to be onsite for up to 56 hours. This is based on the following
estimated durations: Pilot Bore (0.5 day), Reaming (3-5 days), Pipe Pull Back(0.5 day),plus one
additional day (contingency). 12 hours of travel time (covering 6 round trips) has also been
included, bring the total allotted hours to 68 hours. Should the time required for the Frac-Out
Inspector to be onsite exceed 56 hours,a budget amendment would be required.
Alameda Whipnsake Surveys/Exclusion: Based on a preliminary evaluation of aerial
photography, it appears that suitable Alameda whipsnake habitat may not be present on or
adjacent to the project site. Therefore, our recommended approach is to conduct an Alameda
whipsnake habitat evaluation. If it is found that suitable whipsnake habitat does not occur on or
adjacent to the project site, then it would not be necessary to implement the avoidance measures
specified in the IS/MND. Therefore, the proposed scope and budget does not include
implementing those measures. However, should it be found that Alameda whipsnake habitat is
present, then an amendment to this scope and budget would be required to conduct the measures
described in the IS/MND(BIO-1).
Preconstruction Nesting Bird Surveys: We have assumed that construction would start in May
and that each project segment will take approximately 1 week. We have also assumed a
construction duration of 14 months (May 2015 though June 2016). Given this,a minimum of 18
separate surveys could be required in the 2015 nesting season (May-August), and 22 additional
surveys could be during the 2016 season (February-June). It is assumed that each survey would
