Task 2: Biological Resources Training(Condition 1.10)
Pacific Biology will prepare and present a biological resources training session to all construction
personnel that will participate in installing the pipe below the Arroyo Mocho. The training will
cover the sensitive biological resources occurring in the project area, the required avoidance and
minimization measures, and measures to implement if sensitive biological resources are
encountered. Handouts will be prepared and provided to all construction personnel including
color photographs for species identification, protocols, and contact phone numbers.
Task 3: Conduct Plant and Wildlife Survey (Condition 2.6)
Within 30 days of construction activities, the work area will be surveyed for sensitive plant and
wildlife species. The biological resources occurring in the portion of the project site associated
with the installation of new pipe below the Arroyo Mocho will be described. The results of the
survey will be provided to the CDFW no more than five days prior to the commencement of
work.
Task 4: Conduct Preconstruction Nesting Bird and Raptor Nest Survey(Conditions 2.8,29)
A preconstruction nesting bird survey will be conducted prior to the commencement of
construction activities associated with installation of the new pipe below the Arroyo Mocho. The
survey will include a search for active bird nests protected by Section 3503 of the California Fish
and Game Code and/or the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. If necessary, recommendations will be
provided for avoiding harm to nesting birds. Once work starts,as required,an additional survey
will be conducted to identify any nests that may be constructed after construction commences; if
necessary, any such nests will be monitored(see Task 11: Additional Monitoring/Contingency).
Task 5: Nesting Bird Survey Methodology(Condition 3.4)
Prior to the conducting pre-construction nesting bird surveys, the bird survey methodology will
be submitted to CDFW for review and approval.
Task 6: Frac-Out Inspector(Condition 2.24)
A qualified biologist will be onsite during all boring operations under the Arroyo Mocho.
Task 7: Reporting(Condition 3.5)
Reports documenting the results of the Plant and Wildlife Survey (Task 3) and the Nesting Bird
Survey(Task 4) will be prepared and submitted to the CDFW.
