ATTACHMENT 4
PACIFIC BIOLOGY
635 Cannel Avenue,Albany,CA 94706
Telephone/Fax: (510)527-1008
TO: Adam Nelkie,City of Pleasanton,Senior Civil Engineer
FROM: Josh Phillips,Principal Biologist
DATE: February 24,2015
SUBJECT: Biological Monitoring for Recycled Water Project -Scope and Cost Estimate
Pacific Biology is pleased to respond to your request to provide biological monitoring services for
the Recycled Water Project. I will serve as the primary biologist and project manager for the
project, ensuring that the required surveys and permit conditions are fulfilled. Given the size and
duration of the project,I have supplemented Pacific Biology's capabilities by including other well
qualified biologists that will be readily available to assist with the project. This will ensure that a
qualified biologist is always available to be onsite when needed. The resumes of the biologists to
assist with the project are included in Appendix A.
The tasks to be conducted and described below are based on the biological monitoring and survey
requirements outlined in the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) Streambed
Alteration Agreement(January 2015) and the biological resources mitigation requirements of the
Final Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration for the Recycled Water Project(August 2014).
The CDFW permit requirements would apply only to the portion of the project associated with
the installation of approximately 1,300 linear feet of new pipe below the Arroyo Mocho, while
the Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration mitigation requirements would apply to the
entire project.
TASKS
CDFW PERMIT REQUIREMENTS
Task 1: Approval of Designated Biologist (Condition 2.5)
The resumes of the designated biological monitor(s) will be submitted to the CDFW for approval.
Given the size and duration of the project several resumes of qualified biologists will be
submitted to ensure that a qualified biologist is always available.
