BACKGROUND
On June 2, 2015, the City Council voted 4-0 (Olson recused) to reconsider its decision
of May 19, 2015, and not place the issue of whether to continue the East Pleasanton
Specific Plan on the ballot as the cost of the election (estimated at $494,844 to
$618,555) was determined to be excessive. The City Council instead voted 4-0 (Olson
recused) to have staff bring back a resolution for consideration at the June 16, 2015
meeting that would 1) stop the East Pleasanton Specific Plan process and
environmental impact report preparation, 2) thank the EPSP Task Force for their hard
work on the plan over the past three years, 3) disband the Task Force, and 4) have
future decisions on whether to restart the EPSP process considered at future regular
City Council priority setting discussions.
DISCUSSION
If the City Council chooses to adopt the attached resolution, the EPSP process and
preparation of the environmental impact report will be indefinitely stopped. The Task
Force will be sent correspondence thanking them for their work on the plan over the
past three years and notifying them that the Task Force has been disbanded. Should
the City Council or a future City Council decide to restart the EPSP process during
some future annual priority setting discussion, the existing Preliminary Draft Plan and
Draft Environmental Impact report will be available as resource documents.
Submitted by: Approve by:
Brian Dolan Nelson Fialho
Assistant City Manager City Manager
Attachments:
1.
