Biography - Artist— Robby Houghton <br /> Robby Houghton is a young man with Autism who is part of the Sunflower <br /> Hill community, a Pleasanton based-non profit organization dedicated to <br /> creating an intentional, sustainable, residential community for individuals <br /> with special needs. Robby has been an artist his entire life —with a <br /> natural gift that was evident early on. At the age of seven, he was <br /> recreating (perfectly) Disney characters, animals and cartoons. He's <br /> worked in a variety of mediums — including markers, watercolor, pencil and <br /> clay. He is an active participant of RADD and he loves to dance. Robby <br /> attends a community day program in Danville and participates in E-Soccer <br /> and Special Olympics. He is a happy, sweet guy who hopes everyone will <br /> "have a great day." <br /> Biography — Instructor—Thomasin Dewhurst <br /> Robby has been working under the instruction/direction of Thomasin <br /> Dewhurst, a Livermore based art teacher for the past year to expand his <br /> techniques and capabilities. <br /> Thomasin holds a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art (with honors) from <br /> Rhodes University in South Africa, and a Master's degree in Fine Art (cum <br /> laude) from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, <br /> specializing in drawing, painting, sculpture and the History of Art. She has <br /> extensive knowledge of both art practical and art history. She is a <br /> professional and respected artist who has exhibited in the USA and <br /> internationally, both in group and solo shows, and has won a number of <br /> awards and honors for her work. <br /> Thomasin was presented with an Above & Beyond Award for her <br /> "excellent attitude, thoughtful conduct, dedication to others, and <br /> services well above the call of duty"in Art, Music & Performing Arts <br /> Enrichment from the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School district, <br /> California in 2010. <br /> Thomasin has been teaching adults and children for over 15 years, and is <br /> qualified to teach both history of art and art practical at the beginner level <br /> to university and college level student. Thomasin has taught students at <br /> preschools, schools, colleges, universities both in the USA and in various <br /> countries overseas. <br />
