Points raised then, remain relevant today
as you revisit the subject. In short, those Include:
- Respect the many months of work by the citizens'task force.
- Keep faith with property owners who,at the City's urging, Invested hundreds of thousands of
dollars and years in the process.
- Fulfill our long-standing General Plan commitment to completing the EPSP.
- Reinforce to the Alameda County Transportation Commission that El Charm to Stanley(and the
grade separation)is a high priority for Measure BB sales tax revenue.
- Remain in control of land use for unincorporated areas that border our community to ensure
consistency with community-wide priorities and objectives.
Let's review what has occurred over the past 14 months since the (then]City Council voted 4-1 to stay
the course and complete the plan:
- Property owners on the east side deepened their trust in the City, now having spent more than
$1 million and an additional year of good faith toward completion of the EPSP.
Measure BB was approved by Alameda County voters and ACTC has earmarked millions to
partially fund the extension of El Charro Road.
- Candidates who ran for mayor and city council last November on a 'stop the east side plan'
platform were soundly rejected by voters. In contrast, with track records and commitments to
thoughtful planning Mayor Thorne and Council member Narum, won re-election by wide
margins.Arne Olson,a former Planning Commissioner, also won by a substantial margin. like
Thorne and Narum,Olson is an advocate for fulfilling our General Plan goals and objectives,
including the EPSP.
www.pleasanton.org
777 Peters Avenue • Pleasanton, CA 94566 • Phone: (925)846-5858 • Fax: (925) 846-9697
