Subject: FW: East Pleasanton Specific Plan SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
Provided to the City Council
From: Erin L. I wanted to make sure
my voice was represented.
My husband and I are lifelong residents of Pleasanton. We continue to reside and raise our family in the community in
which we grew up.This town has changed dramatically in the years since our families first moved here. Long-range
planning and growth resulted in the community that we all love today.
I was honored to be asked to serve on the East Pleasanton Specific Plan Task Force and have proudly done my
homework, contributed to discussions, and voted with a supermajority of the committee to reach the plan that is
currently being considered by the council. You tasked us with doing something that has served this community well and
earned it the moniker The City of Planned Progress- PLAN. I am asking that you allow the planning process begun nearly
three years ago to come to fruition. A well-represented and well-informed group of citizens took our job seriously and
laid a great foundation for the future of the East Side. Rather than let industrial development proceed unchecked
according to current zoning, our community would be better served by the amenities contained in this plan which would
be laid out over decades after every single item proceeds through the long and arduous approval process.
A very loud and vocal group have intimidated many from attending recent community meetings and the lies
disseminated by their group have gone unchecked (for one, they continue to talk about multi-family housing which has
been eliminated from the plan). It is time for the City Council to do what they were elected to do in November—
continue to move this City forward. The same people opposed to planning the East Side actively supported a no-growth
candidate in the last election. Despite the votes of the community at large being split among other forward-looking
candidates, that no-growth candidate was unable to garner enough support to get elected. The community voted. It's
time to take a stand and exercise leadership to do what's best for Pleasanton—finish a process that has taken many
years and a great deal of money and city resources to complete.
Thank you,
Erin Kvistad
Click here to report this email as spam.
1
