Again, thank you for writing and taking the time to be informed about our community. I hope you find this
information useful. Please let us know if you need additional clarification about the timeline or process.
Sincerely,
Nelson Fialho
City Manager
From: Robb Kahn [
Sent:Tuesday, May 19, 2015 7:26 AM
To: Mayor and City Council
Subject: Vote NO on EPSP!
Dear Council Members:
As voting members of Pleasanton, we stand adamantly opposed to the proposed EPSP.
This issue is fraught with faulty assumptions which have been proposed to inform your decision on 19 May.
The EIR is flawed in many respects. These were voiced by members of the community at several hearings.
1. The EIR has been created by an internal working group of Pleasanton employees and has NOT been
subjected to an objective independent review.
2. The EIR was funded by the developers, as may be customary, but the perception of an inherent bias
towards this development was clearly present at the presentation of the EIR on 29 April. The writers of
the EIR defended their positions, assumptions and conclusions rather then merely listening to the many
concerns voiced by the community members present that evening.
3. The issues articulated at the last Hearing on 29 April included our community's concerns with the lack
of water, increased traffic, over-crowdedschools, stresses upon the existing and planned infrastructure,
markedly diminished air quality, loss of potential park/recreation area, the use of recycled
water(originally intended for our community) for the landscaping at EP, and others. We stand in solid
agreement with these issues as being high risks which have not been thoroughly vetted by the voters.
4. Why is this vital issue not being voted upon by the residents of Pleasanton?
5. We propose a referendum to adjudicate the plan and to inform the Council of the community's
overwhelming opposition to this further and unnecessary development.
6. Please record our view as being strongly and adamantly opposed to this development being approved in
any form.
I will join the Council Meeting this evening to lend my voice to the many who will stand in opposition to the
plan.
We elected you to represent OUR interests, and not those of outside development agencies.
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Robert S Kahn, MD
Bobbie Quilty-Kahn
(residents of Vintage Hills II)
Robb Kahn, M.D.
Senior Safety Science Leader
Global Pediatric Oncology
Drug Development,
Safety Risk Management
Genentech,a member of the Roche Group.
kahn.robert@gene.com
Office: +1 650-225-1452
Mobile: +1 650-238-7021
Office site: 36-1005, MS361A
2
