e) Residents had general questions about what type of landslide would be repaired
with GHAD reserve funds. They were advised that landslides in the open spaces
not threatening structures, roads or utilities would generally be left in their natural
condition. And, landslides creating such threats would be repaired. Residents
were further advised that if reserve funds were not sufficient, an additional
assessment could be proposed; and GHAD law also allows for bond funding by
assessments.
f) In response to questions, staff explained that insurance for landslides was not
available to private property owners, or to GHADs, and hence the need for
reserve funds to accumulate by the GHAD assessments.
Staff feels that most of the questions were answered in previous years and
consequently did not schedule another meeting this year. A public notice will be sent to
all the residents within each of the GHADs notifying them that this staff report is
available on the City's website (in addition to the normal postcard noticing information).
Any questions that arise from the residents reading the staff report will be addressed in
our June 16, 2015, staff report.
Submitted by: Fisc eview: Approved by:
Stephen Kirkpatrick Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Acting Director of Director of Finance City Manager
Community Development
Attachments:
1.
