Most of the program training and activities take place in
the wider community. SVS has been very successful in moving service participants
from activities in site based locations into partial and full employment within the
community. We plan to do the same from our new location in Pleasanton.
Below please find a definition of type of facility we plan to operate(day program) and
the services we will be providing to our consumers.
Day Program-for adults who have completed ublic school services to increase their
skill levels, prepare for a maximum level of independence in their community and to
prepare for work. (http://www.rceb.org/about/services.html)
Vocational Training/Supported Employment refers to service provisions wherein
people with disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, mental health, and traumatic
brain injury, among others, are assisted with obtaining and maintaining employment
originally through the primary models of job crews, enclaves,or the often preferred job
coach or person-centered approaches.Supported employment is considered to be one
form of employment in which wages are expected, together with benefits from an
employer in a competitive workplace, though some versions refer to disability agency
paid employment. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supported employment)
"Under the Americans with Disabilities Act(ADA)and other laws, It is unlawful for
any person or organization to discriminate against disabled persons because of their
condition.”
SVS provides essential job training services for disabled people from the greater
Pleasanton area, and it is critical to their success that the training and their jobs are
within the greater Pleasanton area.
Please feel free to contact me with questions. Thank you.
Sincerely,
p.a _ Lecnn In a2d -1
Susan Leonhardt
Director of Business Administration
1401 Fulton St. #510
Fresno, CA 93704
Ph.
