- ATTACHMENT 6
n '
1144m ji 1 iii
kir 41 1 ICI,
A
4.
March 30,2015
City of Pleasanton City Council
City Council Chamber
200 Old Bernal Avenue
Pleasanton,CA,94566
Dear Council,
Social Vocational Services (SVS) would like the City Council for the City of Pleasanton
to know how the concerns expressed by Mr. Rudick are addressed and/or mitigated for
our use at 6602 Owens Drive in Pleasanton.
Noise
We plan soundproofing of the wall shared with Mr. Rudick's business so that it meets or
exceeds 50STC.This level of soundproofing is described as not annoying to 99%of the
population with only very loud sounds such as musical instruments or stereos faintly
audible
Elopement
Regarding concerns about elopement behavior,we have experienced client elopement
and attempts at elopement from our facilities on rare occasions in the past. To prevent
this from happening we will install door alarms on all doors so we are alerted
immediately when someone attempts to leave the building. This system has worked
flawlessly. .Because of our dose staff to client ratio of one to three,we are able to stay in
close contact with all our dients at all times. We have had no incidents in our 38 year
history of a client eloping from a licensed facility and entering a neighboring business,
stepping into traffic or being injured in any way.
SVS Employee experience and training
SVS Employment requirements for Direct Care Staff include High School Diploma or
equivalent,Fingerprinting/Drug Screening clearance, First/CPR certification and a
passage of a fitness for work medical examination. On-the-job training consists of(2)
day Orientation, (3)Days spent with staff Mentor and Driver testing/training.
Additional in-service training is provided once every month for (4)hours on varying
topics (i.e. emergency procedures, client safety, driving in inclement weather, etc...).
Parkin
SVS is entitled to its pro rata share of the 90 unallocated parking spaces within the
building complex and we will abide by that. We believe at this time our unit is the only
unoccupied space within the complex. Our prior observation of ample parking
available within the complex was confirmed with a formal count on a recent Friday
morning. The complex has 90 parking spaces. At 11am on March 27,2015, typically the
peak parking hour for business, there were 34 occupied parking spaces, and 56 vacant
parking spaces. To minimize impact upon our concerned neighbor,we will direct our
staff whenever possible to park in the lightly occupied parking spaces behind the
building(south side).
Social Vocational Services,Inc. • 1401 Fulton St.#510 • Fresno,CA 93721
(559)443-7119 • Fax(559)443-7125
