DISCUSSION <br /> Earlier this year, Amador Valley High School prohibited the use of the staff parking lot for <br /> purposes of student pick up and drop off. This restriction was a result of increasing <br /> concerns to provide emergency services access during the daily school drop off and pick <br /> up times. Amador Valley High School has two alternate pick up and drop off locations: <br /> the main student parking lot located on Santa Rita Road and a smaller student/staff lot <br /> accessed from Del Valle Parkway on the south side of the school. The closure of the staff <br /> parking lot has increased the volume of traffic within the student lot, along Del Valle <br /> Parkway, and along the Santa Rita frontage road. <br /> A large curb side area exists within the main student lot on Santa Rita Road. However, <br /> the access into and out of this student lot can be difficult during the school peak hours. <br /> As part of the Amador Valley High School Traffic Circulation plan, staff is recommending <br /> several changes to this student lot to improve both the circulation and safety. <br /> The changes include the installation of two new traffic signals on Santa Rita Road.
