Recommendation to Allocate Housing and Human Services Grant (HHSG) Funds
for Fiscal Year 2015/15
Mr. Erickson reviewed with the Commission information regarding the City's Housing and
Human Services Grant (HHSG) program, the amount of funding available for allocation, and
the funding sources. He advised that a total of 24 applications had been received by the
January 26 deadline, and the four (4) applications that fell within housing guidelines had been
reviewed by the Housing Commission at its meeting of March 19, 2015, with funding
allocations being recommended for those four applications.
Commissioners were advised by Mr. Erickson that human service funding recommendations
would be allocated from CDBG funds and the City General Funds. He noted that five agencies
that had submitted applications the previous year had not submitted an application for this
year, and three new agencies and/or projects had been submitted for this funding cycle. Mr.
Erickson also advised that several agencies that had submitted multiple applications had been
asked to rank their projects in order of agency priority for funding.
A pie-chart summarizing the applications by category and funding request was reviewed by Mr.
Erickson with Commissioners. He also provided them with details regarding the two
applications for Axis Community Health and the City's Housing Rehabilitation Program that
were considered Capital/Rehab projects that could be funded through CDBG.
Commissioner Roby discussed with Mr. Erickson the additional $6,000 available for human
services based on recent growth in the City's General Fund.
Chairperson Wright thanked agency representatives for attending the meeting and apologized
for problems that had arisen causing the March meeting to be cancelled.
Chairperson Wright opened the meeting for agency presentations at 6:10 p.m.
Sue Compton, Axis Community Health — Construction of New Clinic to Serve Low Income
Residents / Improving Patient Care with Facilitated Medication Review— Ms. Compton thanked
the Commission and City of Pleasanton for funds received in the past. She advised that
construction has begun on the new clinic and if all goes according to schedule it should be
finished in November 2015.
Human Services Commission
April 8, 2015
Page 2
