Mayor Thome thanked staff and the Commission for pulling the project together nicely. <br /> Councilmember Narum said she really appreciated how the feedback from the Commission was <br /> responded to and that she was pleased with some of the changes. She reported that her mother lives <br /> at the Stoneridge CLC and many of its residents are excited by the thought of a neighborhood market. <br /> Councilmember Olson noted that in addition to the similarities to Pleasanton Gateway reported by staff, <br /> the developers of both projects were also very responsive to the comments of staff and the <br /> Commission. <br /> Vice-Mayor Brown thanked the applicant for meeting with her and working with staff to develop a strong <br /> project. She said she was excited for the additional jobs and tax revenue that the project would bring. <br /> Councilmember Pentin echoed their comments. He said he appreciated some of the changes made by <br /> the Commission, particularly the additional screening along the south of the project. He said he was <br /> also pleased by the use of recycled water and the electric vehicle charging stations. <br /> MOTION: It was m/s by Pentin/Narum to introduce and waive first reading of Ordinance No. 2114 <br /> approving an application for Planned Unit Development (PUD) Development Plan to construct an <br /> approximately 112,000-square-foot shopping center and related site improvements on approximately <br /> 11.5 acres of the Retail/Commercial site at Staples Ranch. Zoning for the property is PUD-C (Planned <br /> Unit Development-Commercial) District, and direct the City Manager to include a budget for the <br /> gateway entry feature in the second reading for the Council's consideration. Motion passed by the <br /> following vote: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Brown, Narum, Olson, Pentin, Mayor Thome <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> 12. Pulled from the agenda— Consider approval of plans and specifications, review bids, and award <br /> a construction contract to Goodland Landscape Construction, Inc. in the amount of <br /> $12,186,991.43 for Bemal Community Park Phase 2 Project, CIP 017045; approval of an <br /> amendment to the contract with Harris Design Associates for additional design and construction <br /> support services, and an agreement with BSK Engineering for geotechnical and material testing <br /> and special inspection <br /> MATTERS INITIATED - None <br /> COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> Mayor Thorne shared a photo and announced the birth of his first granddaughter, who resides in <br /> Switzerland. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:48 p.m. The Council extended a <br /> tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military.
