c. Staffing levels of Patrol Teams,as determined by the Police Chief;may be changed at <br /> any time to accommodate the operational needs of the department. <br /> 5. ADVANCE NOTICE <br /> a. Absent exigent circumstances,the Department will provide direct notice to the employee <br /> at least 72 hours prior to the change. In the event the Department fails to give an <br /> employee at least seventy-two(72)bows prior notice of a shift change,the employee will <br /> be paid two(2)hours at time and one-half in addition to all scheduled hours(at regular <br /> rate)for the adjusted shift It is understood that notice is not required for scheduled or <br /> emergency overtime as that is not considered a shift adjustment. <br /> 6. RELIEF POSITIONS <br /> a. Two Sergeants will be designated as Relief Supervisors. <br /> • One Sergeant will be required to work Schedule A-Night Watch. This will be <br /> designated as the"home shift". <br /> • One Sergeant will be required to work Schedule B-Night Watch("home shift"). <br /> b. All but two Officer Positions assigned to work Schedule B-Night Watch will be <br /> designated as Relief Officers. <br /> c. All Relief Positions may be moved from their"home shifts"to fill shift vacancies on <br /> Schedule A or Schedule B. <br /> • Schedule adjustments shall be made in a manner that will not conflict with an <br /> employee's scheduled Annual Vacation,Paid Time Off,or days off that are <br /> adjacent to scheduled time off. <br /> d. The Department will make every effort to provide as much advance notice as possible; <br /> however,a minimum of 72-hours advance notice will be provided to the Relief <br /> employees prior to an adjustment from their"home shifts"(see Section 4 of this Side <br /> Letter). <br /> • Adjustments from Night Watch to Morning Watch on Schedule B are exempt <br /> from the 72-hour notice requirement outlined in Section 4 of this Side Letter. <br /> 7. MAXIMUM HOURS WORKED <br /> a. In the event an employee is required to work beyond his/her normal shift,the employee <br /> shall not be required to work more than 15.5 consecutive hours. <br /> b. The Department shall endeavor to provide employees with a minimum of eight hours off <br /> between shifts. <br /> c. Maximum hours worked and minimum hours off are subject to change at the discretion <br /> of the Police Chief based upon organizational need as a result of emergencies,disasters <br /> and major incidents. <br /> 8 VACATION SIGN UPS <br /> a. Only one Patrol Officer at a time will be granted Annual Vacation/Paid Time Off on each <br /> watch. <br /> b. Only one Patrol Sergeant at a time will be granted Annual Vacation/Paid Time Off on <br /> Schedule A and one on Schedule B. <br /> c. Employees may sign up for leave equal to one year of annual vacation accrual(maximum <br /> of five weeks). <br /> d. Leave will be accounted for on an hour for hour basis. Thus,absence on a 10-hour day <br /> will require 10 hours of vacation leave and absence on a 12.5-hour day will require 12.5 <br /> hours of vacation leave. <br /> Wage <br />
