<br /> of which are recovered from the waste stream;2. Using fleets of recycled bikes,guide youth ages 10-21 on local and regional journeys
<br /> which connect them to the living world while promoting sustainable resource use and transportation;3.Create leadership
<br /> opportunities for youth ages 14-21 through mentoring,job training and paid employment in Cycles' shop,The Bikery.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-40 Willard Middle School PTA,Green Team for Diversion and Education of School Waste,Berkeley,West
<br /> County,$2,500.00-Funds will be used to purchase bins, step cans,assemblies,green store incentives, student green team,raffles
<br /> prizes and an outdoor waste station all to continue the efforts of Willard Middle School students and staff to reduce landfill waste.

<br /> County,$3,000.00-Funds will be used to purchase containers,posters and liners to create a system and infrastructure for cafeteria
<br /> waste diversion that supports waste reduction, recycling,reuse,and promotes environmental stewardship.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-42 Livermore Valley Charter School,Project Dragon Waste Wise,Livermore,East County,$3,000.00-
<br /> Funds will be used to purchase containers,posters and liners to create a system and infrastructure for cafeteria waste diversion that
<br /> supports waste reduction,recycling,reuse,and promotes environmental stewardship.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-43 Washington Elementary School PTA,Special Event Waste Reduction and Education,San Leandro,West
<br /> County,$1,797.50-Funds will be used to purchase"party kits"for each grade level. The kits will include durable,washable plastic
<br /> plates,cups and utensils as well as durable/washable cloth napkins. Kits will also contain refillable plastic pitchers to encourage
<br /> drinking of water in classroom and at afterschool events. Kits will be organized into storage tubs and managed by the PTA. Kits can
<br /> be checked out by parents and teachers for classroom events. At the end of an event the kit will be sent home with a parent to be
<br /> washed. Kits will also include a laminated guide for waste reduction and a starter amount of dishwasher detergent packs.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-44 Oakland Technical High School PTSA,Green Club Conquers Bulldog Waste,Oakland,West County,
<br /> $3,000.00-Funds will be used to purchase a shredder for garden composting,promotional signs and educational materials, compost
<br /> containers and supplies,and rolling bins for recyclable paper. The purchase of these items will help to build on the current practice of
<br /> recycling paper and beverage containers, as well as to improve the use of composting for plant waste in the school garden.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-45 King Middle School PTA, King Green Team—Compost and Waste containers,Berkeley,West County,
<br /> $1,810.00-Funds will be used to purchase classroom compost containers and outdoor waste stations. The purchase of these items
<br /> will round out the recycling and composting program at King Middle School.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-46 Castro Valley Sanitary District(CVSan),Community Volunteer Zero Waste Education,Castro Valley,
<br /> West County,$2,965.00- Funds will be used to educate 10 community member volunteers on zero waste and high diversion.
<br /> Volunteers will attend California Resource Recovery Association(CRRA)training classes and the annual conference in San Jose.
<br /> This program will also allow volunteers to attend Northern California Recycling Association's(NCRA)Introduction to Recycling
<br /> and/or Nature of Materials classes.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-47 City of Dublin,Waste Not Want Rot,Dublin, East County,$3,000.00-Funds will be used to continue the
<br /> growth of the commercial food waste/organics program,and maintain the existing program at a high level.This growth will be
<br /> achieved by creating and providing a food waste/recycling resource binder for restaurant managers,recreating/updating existing food
<br /> waste mixed recycle posters to be placed in office kitchenettes, and developing paper towel only decals to promote the recycling of
<br /> bathroom paper towels into compost.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 14-48 Pleasanton Unified School District,Natural Resource Reuse Project,Pleasanton,East County,$3,000.00-
<br /> Funds will be used to purchase a wood chipper for the grounds department enabling them to utilize the natural waste resources
<br /> available to them by turning tree clippings into wood chips and mulch for use in campus beautification,water reduction and weed
<br /> abatement. Grant funds will also be used to provide onsite instruction to students and teachers highlighting the benefit of reuse of
<br /> natural resources to beautify gardens,site landscaping,providing natural weed abatement and water reduction. Students will also learn
<br /> machinery safety through demonstrations.
<br /> The total 2014 Expenditure Plan budget of$120,000 for Mini-Grants was approved by the Board along with the option to
<br /> carry over all unexpended funds from previous grant years and expend if necessary. A total of$114,220.44 in Mini-Grants
<br /> was approved.
