Section 5. Salaries <br /> 5.1 Rates of Pay <br /> The salary ranges for all employees as set forth in Appendix A represent, for each classification, the <br /> standard rate of pay for full-time employment and represent the total compensation due employees, <br /> except for overtime compensation and other benefits specifically provided by the Department as outlined <br /> in this Memorandum of Understanding. <br /> Effective the first pay period on or after January 1, 2015 (January 3, 2015), the salary ranges of all <br /> classifications represented by the Union shall be increased by three percent (3%). <br /> Effective the first pay period on or after July 1, 2015 (July 4, 2015), the salary ranges of all <br /> classifications represented by the Union shall be increased by three percent (3%). <br /> Effective the first pay period on or after July 1, 2016 (July 2, 2016), the salary ranges of all <br /> classifications represented by the Union shall be increased by three percent(3%). <br /> Effective the first pay period on or after July 1, 2017 (July I, 2017), the salary ranges of all <br /> classifications represented by the Union shall be increased by three percent(3%). <br /> 5.2 Entrance Salary <br /> The entrance salary and benefits for a new employee entering the Department service shall be the <br /> minimum salary for the class to which he/she is appointed. When circumstances warrant, the Fire Chief <br /> may authorize an entrance salary for the original appointment or a reinstatement at a rate greater than the <br /> minimum rate for that classification. <br /> 5.3 Conversion of Pay Rates <br /> Any monthly rate of pay may be converted into any equivalent rate of pay or to any other time basis <br /> when, in the judgment of the Fire Chief, such a conversion is advisable. In determining the equivalent <br /> amounts on a different time basis, the Fire Chief shall provide tables for use in converting monthly <br /> salaries to hourly rates, as well as for calculating hourly rates. <br /> 5.4 Salary Advancement <br /> Permanent and probationary employees shall be advanced one salary step in their respective <br /> classifications after satisfactory completion of full-time service, until the top of the range is reached. <br /> (See timetable below). No salary advancement shall exceed the maximum rate established in the <br /> respective classification. <br /> Advancements shall not be automatic but shall depend upon increased service value of an employee to <br /> the City as recommended by the Fire Chief. <br /> 5 <br />
