Steven Bocian
From: Robert and Janet Roth tztgiffigiMEMS>
Sent: Monday, October 20, 2014 9:26 AM
To: Steven Bocian
Cc: Susan Andrade-Wax;Jerry Thorne
Subject: Opposition to Proposed Location of Dog Park - Bernal Property
I am contacting you regarding the proposed location of the new dog park on the Bernal Property in
Pleasanton. I became of aware of the location last week after seeing an article in the Pleasanton Weekly. I was
informed that the City Council had been considering three different sites within the property and chose the
site at the staging area of the Marilyn Kane Trail next to Bernal Ave.
I am a home owner on Foothill Place which is directly adjacent to the three acre site the City Council approved
for the new dog park. What the Council may not have taken into consideration before choosing this location is
that this site will directly impact dozens of homes in the immediate area. Our properties are directly across
Arroyo de la Laguna Creek from the proposed dog park.
The neighborhoods surrounding this project will be subjected to barking dogs from dawn to dusk, 7 days a
week. A dog park in this location will add to the intolerable traffic congestion on Bernal Avenue between
Foothill Road and the entrance to the 680 on-ramp. Furthermore, it will impact the peace, tranquility, and
privacy of our homes and may affect our property values dramatically. The noise could also impact the ability
to sell our homes.
Other upscale cities such as Danville, San Ramon, and Walnut Creek have dog parks directly adjacent to large
city parks where there is ample parking and open space. Pleasanton should choose a similar site to build a dog
park.
I have spoken to and represent every homeowner in our neighborhood, and we are adamant, that the City
Council take action to move the location of the dog park away from our homes. We will meet with you, sign
petitions, whatever is necessary to make this change.
Please tell us how we should proceed in working with the City Council on this matter.
.
•
Sincerely,
Robert and Janet Roth
16 Foothill Place
Pleasanton CA 94588
Click here to report this email as spam.
1
