DISCUSSION
The recommended SSMP is designed to demonstrate that the City can facilitate proper
funding and management of its sanitary sewer systems. The City is required to develop
and implement a system-specific SSMP. The SSMPs includes provisions to provide
proper and efficient management, operation, and maintenance of the sanitary sewer
system, while taking into consideration risk management. Additionally, the SSMP
contains a spill response plan that establishes standard procedures for immediate
response to a Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) in a manner designed to minimize water
quality impacts and potential nuisance conditions. The City Council first approved the
SSMP in 2008.
As indicated in the SSMP, the document is drafted to meet the requirements of both the
Regional Water Quality Control Board and the Statewide General Waste Discharge
Requirements and includes eleven separate elements includes goals, organizational
structure, design and performance provisions, capacity management, etc. The document
also includes various forms that are used to track and manage specific elements of the
City's waste water system and a listing of City ordinances that govern certain wastewater
processes and regulations.
Sub e •, 41 Approved b
Daniel Sm. h Nelson Fialho
Director- Operations Services City Manager
Attachments:
1.
