Mayor Thorne opened the item for public comment. <br /> Jon Asmussen stated that he and Greg Jetter of the Ballistic United Soccer Club have spent the last <br /> several months working closely with city staff to draft this MOU and is pleased to have reached an <br /> agreement that all of the sports group could support. He thanked staff for their efforts and all of the <br /> groups who participated in the process. He acknowledged the wonderful sports facilities provided by <br /> the city over the years but said that lighted all-weather fields have been a long-standing need. He said <br /> the facility will be a truly attractive opportunity for business sponsors in the community and he is <br /> confident there will be a strong interest in brands wishing to associate themselves with the project. <br /> Mayor Thome closed public comment. <br /> Mayor Thorne said that the idea to apply the example of the Firehouse Arts Center here has worked out <br /> beautifully and he thanked the sports groups for their participation. <br /> Councilmember Brown said that the level of cooperation demonstrated here is truly impressive. <br /> Councilmember Narum said she couldn't be happier for the youth of the community to see this move <br /> forward. <br /> MOTION: It was m/s by Brown/Olson to approve the Memorandum of Understanding with Pleasanton <br /> Sports Groups for a Bemal Community Park, Phase II fundraising campaign Motion passed by the <br /> following vote: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Brown, Narum, Olson, Pentin, Mayor Thome <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> BREAK: Mayor Thorne called a brief recess from 8:42 p.m. to 8:48 p.m. <br /> 10. Public Hearing: Consider General Plan Amendments, Rezoning, Establishment of a Zoning <br /> Designation, a Planned Unit Development (PUD) Development Plan, a PUD Major Modification <br /> and a Negative Declaration to accommodate a proposed Chick-fil-A restaurant to be located at <br /> 6111 Johnson Court, a vacant parcel, and 5225-6015 Johnson Drive <br /> Planning Manager Weinstein presented the staff report, stating that the applicant is requesting approval <br /> for construction of an approximately 5,400 square-foot restaurant onsite as well as associated offsite <br /> improvements. He briefly reviewed the 0.8-acre project site, which is assembled from pieces of three <br /> different parcels and located just south of the eastbound I-580/Hopyard Road off ramp and at a major <br /> entryway to the city. The site is located within Pleasanton Park Business Park and immediately <br /> adjacent to the Pleasanton Square II portion of the park which currently contains a BevMo, Smart & <br /> Final and In & Out Burger among other things. The project application includes a PUD Development <br /> Plan, General Plan amendments and zonings to ensure the land use and zoning designations of the <br /> site are unified and consistent with those of the shopping center surrounding the site, and a PUD Major <br /> Modification to the Pleasanton Square II Shopping Center PUD to absorb the project site. <br /> The Chick-fil-A restaurant would operate from 6 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and be <br /> closed on Sundays. As proposed, the project would accommodate 139 indoor and 56 outdoor seats. 16 <br /> parking spaces would be provided on site with the remainder of the parking demand satisfied by 30 <br /> parking spaces shared among all tenants of the shopping center. The project would provide two drive- <br /> through lanes to allow for more efficient stacking of vehicles and a trash enclosure, which would <br /> accommodate solid, recyclable and organic waste, to the south of the building. <br /> City Council Minutes Page 8 of 14 December 2,2014 <br />
