MINUTES <br /> CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> December 2, 2014 <br /> Mayor Thome called the regular meeting to order at the hour of 7:00 p.m. and led the Pledge of <br /> Allegiance. <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Present: Councilmembers Brown, Cook-Kallio, Narum, Pentin, Mayor Thorne <br /> Absent: None <br /> SPECIAL ITEM <br /> 1. Adopt a resolution declaring the results of the November 4, 2014 General Municipal Election <br /> City Manager Fialho presented the staff recommendation. <br /> MOTION: It was m/s by Cook-Kallio/Brown to waive full reading and adopt Resolution No. 14-719 <br /> reciting the fact of the Consolidated General Municipal Election held on November 4, 2014, declaring <br /> the results and such other matters as provided by law. Motion passed by the following vote: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Brown, Cook-Kallio, Narum, Pentin, Mayor Thorne <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> REMARKS BY OUTGOING CITY COUNCIL COUNCILMEMBER CHERYL COOK-KALLIO <br /> Councilmember Cook-Kallio said she has learned so much about the quality of this community while <br /> serving on the Council. She extended her thanks for the support of her family, who were both her most <br /> vocal cheerleaders and biggest critics and who sacrificed so much, as do the families of so many <br /> elected officials. She thanked her fellow Council members, wishing the new Council both wisdom and <br /> foresight in every matter that comes before them. She thanked city staff, particularly those responsible <br /> for the preparation and delivery of staff reports who offered their expertise and assistance in <br /> understanding the multitude of issues put before the Council. She also expressed her appreciation for <br /> this community's level of engagement and wished all communities could experience the same diligent <br /> participation. She explained that she is keenly aware that all Council members stand on the shoulders <br /> of those who came before them and hoped she had helped to lay a good foundation for those who <br /> follow her. She said she has worked endlessly to remain transparent and to make the best decisions for <br /> the city, even when those decisions or the process was not popular or expedient, and that she is proud <br /> of what they have accomplished as a city. <br /> PRESENTATIONS <br /> Mayor Thome presented the proclamation from the City of Pleasanton commending Councilmember <br /> Cook-Kallio for her service as a two-term member of the City Council. He also presented a Certificate of <br /> Recognition, on behalf of Joan Buchanan of the 16th Assembly District, expressing deep gratitude for <br /> her eight years of dedicated and distinguished public service. <br /> Mayor Thorne stated that in looking over the last eight years and four Councils°it is obvious that a lot <br /> has been accomplished during Councilmember Cook-Kallio's time on the Council. He acknowledged <br /> the completion of Stoneridge Drive as one of her major accomplishments, as was her role in Measures <br />
