Councilmember Narum asked if the conditions address the possible event in which the city would like to replace the "Pleasanton" monument signage being installed here to be more consistent with the gateway design to be installed at Bernal and 1-680. Mr. Fialho stated that staff could craft a condition allowing for the potential removal of the monument sign for the installation of a city sponsored monument sign somewhere in the median of Hopyard Road and proximity of 1-580, based on the community's wishes at that time. Additionally, he would propose that the city take on that obligation if it were to come about somewhere in the future. Vice-Mayor Pentin requested confirmation that the "Pleasanton" monument sign is not lit. Mr. Weinstein clarified that it is and is required as Condition of Approval. Mayor Thorne opened the public hearing. Deborah Kerr, consulting Project Manager, said that the last 2 years of her involvement with the project has presented some interesting and complex challenges including acquisition of the various properties. In working with city staff, what was once a rather conventional site design has evolved into something more in keeping with the larger sense of the community. She said she viewed the gateway signage as a wonderful opportunity for the city and asked that, should the Council wish to explore the type of condition which was mentioned, that it allow for some sort of easement and approval rights by Chick-fil- A if a new sign were to be installed in that same location. Jennifer Daw, Western Region Development Supervisor for Chick-fil-A, said her company is truly pleased by the opportunity to become involved in the city of Pleasanton. Chick-fil-A is a quick-service restaurant that prides itself on excellent in customer service, food quality and community involvement and is well known for its healthy and child-friendly food options. The proposed project would be a locally owned franchise employing approximately 60 area residents. She thanked the Council and city staff for their support. Mayor Thorne closed the public hearing. MOTION: It was m/s by Pentin/Narum to introduce and waive Ordinance No. 2109 approving the applications of Chick-Fil-A, Inc. for Planned Unit Development Zoning, Rezoning, and PUD Development Plan approval as filed under Case PUD-100; Ordinance No. 2110 approving the application of Chick-Fil-A, Inc. for Planned Unit Development Major Modification, as filed under Case PUD-96-13-02M; adopted Resolution No. 14-721 approving an amendment to the General Plan, as filed under Case P13-2533 changing the Land Use Designation for a vacant parcel from Open Space— Public Health and Safety to Business Park and a portion of 6111 Johnson Court from Retail/Highway/Service Commercial, Business and Professional; adopted Resolution No. 14-722 approving Negative Declaration for the General Plan Amendment and Planned Unit Development Zoning, Rezoning and Development Plan for Chick-Fil-A, Inc. as filed under Case P13-2533, PUD-100, and PUD-96-13-02M, including the recommendations of the Planning Condition and direction to staff to craft an additional Condition of Approval regarding the monument sign, as described.
