We are aware that synthetic turf sounds wonderful and very practical, especially during the drought we're
having in California, but we are convinced that until we know more about the health risks it posses for our
young children, we should err on the side of caution. In my opinion, we should at least wait with installing these
type of fields until it is clear whether or not it is safe to do so. In the first article it clearly states that the EPA
says there needs to be more testing to confirm safety - or danger - of this product. The NBC's report actually
shows there has been NO study to show that use of this product is safe at all...
We have added some links to several articles regarding this issue. Please read them and take the information to
heart. Please put the health of our girls as the top priority of Rage and the development of sport in Pleasanton as
a great second. As a parent, the anecdotal evidence is enough to ask you not to support artificial turf for our
girls and have a wait-and-see approach regarding their health. The words of the industry itself are not
comforting at all as we are very well aware their "invested interest" is very different from mine...
http://www.infowars.com/dads-petition-seeks-to-ban-artificial-turf-sports-fields-over-reported-
link-to-cancer/
http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Soccer-coach-Could-field-turf-be-causing-cancer-
259895701.htm1
http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/dai Iv-take/201410/synthetic-turf-giving-athletes-cancer-
soccer-crumb-rubber-goal ie-fields
http://www.soccerwire.com/news/col lege/does-artificial-turf-cause-cancer-nbc-news-alarming=
report/
We will forward this email to the parents of my daughter's soccer team as well as to the
Pleasanton City Council.
Thank you for your time!
Michael and Tiffany Siegling
Click here to report this email as spam.
2
