THE CITY OF 6
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLEASANTON.
October 21, 2014
Fire
TITLE: CONSIDER A RESOLUTION DECLARING AS SURPLUS TWO FIRE
ENGINES, AND AUTHORIZE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
AGREEMENT DONATING THESE ENGINES TO PLEASANTON'S
SISTER CITY TULANCINGO, MEXICO. THIS DONATION WOULD BE
THROUGH THE PLEASANTON DOWNTOWN ROTARY CLUB
SUMMARY
The attached resolution itemizes the fire engines proposed for surplus, including
description and vehicle identification number (VIN). These engines would be donated to
our Mexico Sister City, Tulancingo. This donation would be facilitated through the
Pleasanton Downtown Rotary Club.
RECOMMENDATION
Declare as surplus the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD) engines VIN
numbers 1GDJK34N6ME507964 and S29RT6F04FC423861 because they are not
operationally cost effective and have been replaced. Authorize the City Manager to
execute an agreement, in a form approved by the City Attorney, that provides for the
transfer of these fire engines to the Pleasanton Rotary Club for the purposes of transfer
to Pleasanton's sister city, Tulancingo, Mexico. Find that such transfer is for the
common benefit of fire suppression and improved health and safety response for
Tulancingo, and further benefits Pleasanton by enhancing opportunities for cultural
exchange between Pleasanton's residents and residents of Tulancingo.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The transfer, transportation and other logistics of this donation will have no cost to the
City of Pleasanton.
