City of Pleasanton
Phase 1A Recycled Water Distribution System Design Final Draft
location confirmation. Comments back from utilities will be incorporated into the final design. Final
design"C" letters will be sent to utilities for record purposes at the end of the design phase.
Consultant shall locate the existing utility lines and structures on the plan and profile sheets based on best
available information. Consultant shall identify utility potholes necessary to confirm major utility
locations (typically pressure pipelines greater than 16-inches in diameter). Consultant shall design the
pipeline to cause minimal disruptions to existing utilities, excluding services and sewer laterals. If a
conflict is inevitable, Consultant shall identify potential conflicts and resolve the conflicts in coordination
with the affected utility owner.
Subtask 3.4 Assumptions:
• City has initiated contact with the utilities and has issued the"A" letters requesting information
• City will provide utility information collected, including City request for such information
• The City has elected to not do soil borings for the project and instead rely on available
geotechnical data. The added associated risk of potential changed conditions claims by a
construction contractor is accepted by the City. The Consultant and its' geotechnical engineering
subconsultant will use appropriately conservative assumptions and criteria in design of the project
pipelines and related facilities.
Subtask 3.4 Deliverables:
• Proposed pothole list Technical Memorandum(pdf file via email)
• List of utility information received(.pdf file via email)
• Utility"B"and"C"letters for each affected utility owner
Subtask 3.5: Corrosion Investigation
Consultant's corrosion engineering subconsultant shall perform limited corrosion investigation work, as
described below.
Conduct a review of existing soil corrosivity information from City and from other sources for resistivity
data from utility depth and for chemical analysis of soil samples from pipe depth along the Project
alignments.
Review the Project geotechnical engineering report described under Subtask 3.3 to determine the various
soil types along the Project alignments relative to corrosivity characteristics.
Subtask 3.5 Assumptions:
• City will provide available corrosion data from project area
• No soil sampling and testing for corrosivity is included
• No in-situ soil resistivity measurements are included
• City indicates that soils in the Project area are corrosive to metallic valves, pipe and pipe
appurtenances and couplings
• The City has elected to not do soil corrosivity sampling and testing for the Project and instead
rely on available corrosion data. The Consultant and its corrosion engineering subconsultant will
use appropriately conservative assumptions and criteria in design of the corrosion protection for
project pipelines and related facilities.
Subtask 3.5 Deliverables:
• Draft corrosion investigation report(one hardcopy and one.pdf)
• Final geotechnical report(one hardcopy and one .pdf)
Scope of Work Revs Page 6 of 17
August 20,2014
