This activity is an early start activity that Consultant
will accomplish ahead of the City's approval of the project Agreement.
Consultant shall also perform field reconnaissance along the project alignments to develop an
understanding of the setting, identify existing irrigation services, identify constraints and opportunities
and locate the proposed pipeline facilities.
Subtask 3.1 Assumptions:
• City will compile readily available information and make it available to Consultant
• Subtask 3.1 Deliverables:
• Log of information collected and reviewed(incorporated into Design Report under Task 5)
• Site reconnaissance observations(incorporated into the Task 5 deliverables)
Subtask 3.2: Survey and Mapping
Consultant shall identify supplemental ground survey needs and obtain advanced concurrence from City
prior to proceeding with field survey activity. Consultant's surveying subconsultant shall perform
topographic surveys and prepare supplemental mapping along the alignments of the Project pipelines
where necessary to supplement the City's GIS data set. The mapping will be developed using AutoCAD
2014 or more recent version. The survey will generally include supplemental topographic survey of
surface features along the alignment to approximately 5 feet beyond the City's street right-of-way (to
locate existing irrigation meters and backflow devices). Consultant shall perform verification surveys to
determine the adequacy of City's GIS mapping for purposes of design and construction. The vertical
control will be based on the City vertical datum (based on local benchmarks provided by City) and the
horizontal datum will be NAD 83. Consultant shall field verify horizontal and vertical survey controls
and shall establish construction survey control stakes.
The Consultant shall document and/or survey potholes and geotechnical boring locations in up to two (2)
separate survey visits.
Subtask 3.2 Assumptions:
• City GIS mapping is acceptable for design and construction of the proposed improvements. City
and Consultant shall meet to review the GIS data and achieve consensus on its use for design
purposes.
• City GIS mapping accurately depicts public road right-of-way boundaries and parcel boundaries
within the project area and no verification of right-of-way or parcel boundaries is necessary,
assuming pipelines will be located within road right-of-ways
Scope of Work Rev5 Page 4 of 17
August 20,2014
