August <br /> 31, 2014 is the last day the Senate and Assembly can pass bills, with the Governor's deadline to sign <br /> or veto being September 30, 2014. <br /> She explained that the Council's action tonight will enable staff to act in support or opposition of the <br /> legislation discussion. City Council members or the Mayor may also act on their own to support or <br /> oppose other legislation. The Council is being asked to approve the Legislative Subcommittee's <br /> recommendation and direct staff on whether to issue letters expressing support or opposition or to <br /> place calls to committee chairs conveying the Council's position. <br /> Mayor Thorne noted there were no speakers for the item. <br /> MOTION: It was m/s by Pentin/Narum to approve the recommendations of the City Council's <br /> Legislative Subcommittee and authorize staff to issue letters expressing support or opposition to the <br /> bills described.
