Recommendation#2 addresses the need to provide direction on the desired approach for
tackling the short-term and long-term integration of the Austin and Castleridge properties into
the planning process, including whether to partner with EBRPD to allow interim access to its
Castleridge Open Space.
FAA believes it is timely to task the visioning process to include both the integration of
the Austin Property, as well as, potential partnerships with EBRPD into the short-term
and the long-term planning process for the Adobe Park. Ordinance 1942 requires uses of
the Austin Property Open Space to be reviewed by the Park and Recreation Commission
as well as the Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trails Committee. The recommended composition
of the Task Force, timeliness of receiving the Austin Property, EBRPD's acquisition of the
Castleridge Property and their desire to have public access to their property suggests
the Task Force is well positioned to effectively respond to the task.
Rest assured that the Friends of the Alviso Adobe remain committed to supporting the park and
its goals and welcome the opportunity to refresh those goals with an eye towards the future.
* We would like to extent our personal support of the recommendations outlined in this memo:
Pat Belding Bob McMcMillion
Dolores Bengston Ann Pfaff-Doss
Jim Bowie Cheryl Spencer
Renata Dowdakin Bob & Cheryl Takens
Gail Frost Bruce & Patti Takens
Joanie Fields Deborah Trivedi
Kurt Kummer Nishaad Trivedi
Mary Mookerjee Earl Weak
Donna Kamp McMillion
