If the newly acquired Castleridge Trail is opened prior to the opening of the Garms major staging
area, it will be the only regional access to the North Pleasanton Ridgelands, thus will be heavily
used, impacting the surrounding area at high use periods. I believe the City should protect
neighborhood and their own park interests prior to meeting those of the Districts. Any effort to hurry
up the process to grant the District use of the Austin Property, Old Foothill Road or Adobe Park for
parking and regional access prior to a careful study must be tempered with what is best for the
community.
As per Ordinance 1942, Conditions of Approval, any process to move forward with uses of the Austin
Property requires a process involving the Trails Ad Hoc committee and the Park and Recreation
Commission. Any process to move forward with the work plan for the Alviso Adobe will be under the
guidance of the Park and Recreation commission. It would appear the time is ripe to expand the work
plan for the Alviso Adobe to include future uses for the Austin Property thereby considering and
meeting both the needs of the Alviso Adobe as well as those of the District. Including representatives
of the Ad Hoc Trails Committee to the matrix will assure all interests are met.
I urge you to consider combining land use planning for the Austin Property Open Space with the
Alviso Adobe Community Park work plan.
I appreciate the opportunity to provide input on this important issue.
Dolores Bengtson
Click here to report this email as spam.
2
