He added that in addition to doubling the <br /> number of units, the project improves conditions beyond anything most residents could have <br /> envisioned. He encouraged a unanimous vote by the Council. <br /> Becky Duret said her rear property line abuts the project site. She asked and Ms. Stern confirmed that <br /> there would be single-story, not multi-unit units, along the perimeter of the project. She also inquired <br /> about plantings to screen the view of taller structures from neighboring rear yards. Ms. Stern illustrated <br /> the location of trees between the project and rear fences. <br /> Mayor Thome closed the public hearing. <br /> Councilmember Cook-Kallio thanked the Vice-Mayor for deferring to her in appointing a Council liaison <br /> to the task force. She thanked the applicant and their consultants for being so responsive to city staff, <br /> the Council, residents and neighbors. She said her experience on the task force was a true pleasure <br /> and she appreciated the thoughtfulness exhibited by all who served. She called attention to the fact that <br /> the project will box gardens and other areas for residents to grow vegetables and do things one would <br /> normally expect to do in a home. She thanked Pleasanton Gardens for its many decades of service to <br /> the city and moved the staff recommendation. <br /> Vice-Mayor Pentin said he appreciated her comments, admitting that it was difficult to step back from <br /> the task force. He applauded the thought and care exhibited throughout an admittedly difficult process <br /> but said it has resulted in a truly amazing project. He thanked the task force, staff, MidPen and <br /> particularly the neighbors. He shared his full support for the project and seconded the motion. <br /> Councilmember Narum echoed their comments and support. She said she loved the proposed <br /> architecture and is thrilled that so many have worked together to create what will be an incredible asset. <br /> Councilmember Brown shared her support for the project. She acknowledged those who would have <br /> preferred to be at this point several years ago but thought most would agree that getting it done right is <br /> more important. She said she appreciated that all units would be ADA compliant as well as Mr. Bocian's <br /> comments regarding the preference system. She urged any neighbors and residents to contact the city <br /> with any concerns regarding the hours of construction. She cited a number of project features that are <br /> really appreciated by current residents and said she is proud to stand behind the project. <br /> Mayor Thorne echoed all comments and shared his support. <br /> MOTION: It was m/s by Cook-Kallio/Pentin to introduce and waive first reading of Ordinance No. 2102 <br /> approving the application of MidPen Housing Corporation for Planned Unit Development (PUDO <br /> Rezoning approval, as filed under Case PUD-101; Introduced and waived first reading of Ordinance <br /> No. 2103 approving the application of MdPen Housing Corporation for Planned Unit Development <br /> (PUD) Development Plan approval, as filed under Case PUD-10; adopted and waived full reading of <br /> Resolution No. 14-687 approving an amendment to the General Plan, as filed under Case P-140011, <br /> regarding a change in land use designation for 4133 Regalia Court from Parks and Recreation to High <br /> Density Residential; and adopted and waived full reading of Resolution No. 14-686 approving a <br /> Mitigated Negative Declaration for the application of MidPen Housing Corporation, as filed under Case <br /> P14-0011 and PUD-10.
