���® March 25, 2014 <br /> B I( F Mr. Mike Tassano <br /> Project Manager <br /> City of Pleasanton <br /> ENGINEERS Community DetelopmendTraffic <br /> SURVEYORS 200 Old Bernal Avenue <br /> PLANNERS Pleasanton,CA 94566 <br /> SUBJECT: Bernal Avenue @ I-680 Interchange Improvement Project <br /> Amendment No. 5-Additional Scope of Services <br /> Dear Mr. Tassano: <br /> BKF Engineers(BKF)has cooperatively worked with the City of Pleasanton(City)in obtaining a <br /> Caltrans encroachment permit for the construction of the Bernal Avenue at I-680 Interchange <br /> Improvement Project (Project). Per City request, Construction assistance for the Roadway <br /> Construction, Archaeological Monitoring for the Roadway Construction, and Construction <br /> Staking is to be included in the scope of the project. In addition, the City has requested issued <br /> additional comments and revisions which required additional design effort to include in the bid <br /> set and which will require processing through Caltrans for an encroachment permit rider as <br /> described below. <br /> Construction Assistance for Roadway Construction <br /> As part of construction support services and when requested by the City or City's authorized <br /> representatives,BKF can attend a pre-construction meeting and job site progress meetings on an <br /> as-needed basis. <br /> Engines will be available to answer Contractor's Requests For Information(RFIs) and provide <br /> clarifications of the Plans, Specifications and Estimate (PS&E) documents for the Project when <br /> requested by the City or City's authorized representatives. When requested by the City's or City's <br /> authorized representatives, BKF will review Shop Drawings and miscellaneous submittals from <br /> the Contractor for the limited purpose of checking for conformance with information given and <br /> the design concept expressed in the Contract Documents. Review of such submittals is not <br /> conducted for the purpose of determining the accuracy and completeness of ether details such as <br /> dimensions and quantities or for substantiating instructions for installation or performance of <br /> equipment or systems designed by the Contractor all of which remain the responsibility of the <br /> Contractor to the extent required by the Contract Documents. BICF's review shall not constitute <br /> approval of safety precautions or, unless otherwise,specifically stated by BKF, of construction <br /> means, methods,techniques, sequences or procedures. BKF's approval of a specific item shall not <br /> indicate approval of an assembly of which the item is a component. <br /> When requested, BKF can prepare construction Contract Change Order (CCO) documents <br /> consisting of PS&E level of detail. Since BKF has no control over local conditions, the cost of <br /> labor,materials, equipment or services furnished by others or over competitive bidding or market <br /> conditions,BKF does not guarantee the accuracy of any opinions of probable construction cost as <br /> compared to construction contractor's bids or the actual cost. <br />
