��® March 25, 2014 B I( F Mr. Mike Tassano Project Manager City of Pleasanton ENGINEERS Community DetelopmendTraffic SURVEYORS 200 Old Bernal Avenue PLANNERS Pleasanton,CA 94566 SUBJECT: Bernal Avenue @ I-680 Interchange Improvement Project Amendment No. 5-Additional Scope of Services Dear Mr. Tassano: BKF Engineers(BKF)has cooperatively worked with the City of Pleasanton(City)in obtaining a Caltrans encroachment permit for the construction of the Bernal Avenue at I-680 Interchange Improvement Project (Project). Per City request, Construction assistance for the Roadway Construction, Archaeological Monitoring for the Roadway Construction, and Construction Staking is to be included in the scope of the project. In addition, the City has requested issued additional comments and revisions which required additional design effort to include in the bid set and which will require processing through Caltrans for an encroachment permit rider as described below. Construction Assistance for Roadway Construction As part of construction support services and when requested by the City or City's authorized representatives,BKF can attend a pre-construction meeting and job site progress meetings on an as-needed basis. Engines will be available to answer Contractor's Requests For Information(RFIs) and provide clarifications of the Plans, Specifications and Estimate (PS&E) documents for the Project when requested by the City or City's authorized representatives. When requested by the City's or City's authorized representatives, BKF will review Shop Drawings and miscellaneous submittals from the Contractor for the limited purpose of checking for conformance with information given and the design concept expressed in the Contract Documents. Review of such submittals is not conducted for the purpose of determining the accuracy and completeness of ether details such as dimensions and quantities or for substantiating instructions for installation or performance of equipment or systems designed by the Contractor all of which remain the responsibility of the Contractor to the extent required by the Contract Documents. BICF's review shall not constitute approval of safety precautions or, unless otherwise,specifically stated by BKF, of construction means, methods,techniques, sequences or procedures. BKF's approval of a specific item shall not indicate approval of an assembly of which the item is a component. When requested, BKF can prepare construction Contract Change Order (CCO) documents consisting of PS&E level of detail. Since BKF has no control over local conditions, the cost of labor,materials, equipment or services furnished by others or over competitive bidding or market conditions,BKF does not guarantee the accuracy of any opinions of probable construction cost as compared to construction contractor's bids or the actual cost.
