THE CITY OF 15 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> PLEASANTON. <br /> June 3, 2014 <br /> Community Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVE THE PLEASANTON PARKS AND RECREATION MASTER <br /> PLAN <br /> SUMMARY <br /> On May 3, 2011, the City Council adopted its Annual Work Plan for FY 2011/12 that <br /> included the development of a comprehensive, city-wide Parks and Recreation Master <br /> Plan. The Parks and Recreation Master Plan (Master Plan) will provide a framework for <br /> directing City resources toward parks, facilities and programs, and for addressing future <br /> community recreational needs over the next ten (10) years. <br /> In September 2012, the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Steering Committee and <br /> staff began working with RJM Design Group, Inc., in developing the Master Plan. RJM <br /> Design Group, Inc. has recently completed the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, <br /> presented the document and its findings to the City Council and the Parks and <br /> Recreation Commission at their joint workshop on February 24, 2014. The City Council <br /> and Parks and Recreation Commission received the presentation and public feedback, <br /> and provided comment. On May 8, 2014, the Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> approved the Parks and Recreation Master Plan and requested that staff forward it to <br /> the City Council for their review and consideration. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding allocated to develop the Master Plan was approved at $149,914. The project <br /> was budgeted in the Capital Improvement Program Reserve (068018). <br />
