BACKGROUND <br /> Along with adopting the required resolution associated with the November 4, 2014, <br /> General Municipal Election, for the election of a Mayor for a full term of two years and <br /> two members of the City Council for a full term of four years each, staff recommends the <br /> Council request consent from the Alameda County Board of Supervisors for the <br /> Registrar of Voters to render specific services to the City related to the conduct of the <br /> election and to consolidate with the Statewide General Election. <br /> The nomination period for candidates opens Monday, July 14, 2014 and closes Friday, <br /> August 8, 2014. Should the incumbent Mayor not seek re-election the nomination period <br /> will extend to Wednesday, August 13 2014, for any qualified candidate except the <br /> incumbent. Consistent with past elections and State law, candidates will pay a $25.00 <br /> filing fee. <br /> Regulations pertaining to Candidates Statements are outlined in the attached Resolution <br /> No. 12-554.
