Human Service Needs.(continued): <br /> • Food and nutrition; <br /> • Health care and behavioral health; <br /> • Senior services; <br /> • Workforce development/unemployment; and <br /> • Youth services <br /> After reviewing research on innovative, promising and best practices, the Human <br /> Services Commission chose strategies that would be most relevant, possible, and <br /> effective in Pleasanton.. The Commission selected the following strategies to address <br /> the City's most critical systemic challenges and prioritize human services: <br /> 1. Revise Human Services Commission Grant-making Protocols/RFPs to Address <br /> Identified Needs and Systemic Challenges. <br /> 2. Spearhead a Community Engagement and Education Campaign <br /> 3. Sponsor Alliance among Nonprofit, Faith-Based, and Public Agency Providers <br /> 4. Workforce Development Project <br /> In order to ensure that the Commission is well-informed and effective in implementing <br /> the aforementioned strategies, the Commission identified those areas that would <br /> strengthen the organization internally and enable the City to fulfill its programmatic <br /> goals and mission. The Commission chose to focus on the following action steps to <br /> ensure the City's success: <br /> • Continue to build relationships with regional governments by strengthening <br /> communication and partnering with the cities of Livermore and Dublin <br /> • Diversify Pleasanton Human Services Commission Membership by <br /> encouraging people of diverse backgrounds to become involved with the City <br /> CONCLUSION <br /> Resource Development Associates has recently completed the Strategic Plan and <br /> presented the document and its process to the City Council and the Human Services <br /> Commission at their joint workshop on February 11, 2014. The City Council and Human <br /> Services Commission received the presentation and public feedback, and provided <br /> comment. <br /> At the Human Services Commission meeting on March 5, 2014, the Human Services <br /> Commission approved the Human Services Needs Assessment: Strategic Report and <br /> requested that staff forward it to the City Council for their review and consideration. <br /> Page 5 of 6 <br />
