• There are not enough Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug Services <br /> located in the region. <br /> • There is insufficient extended care, after school, and summer programming in the <br /> Tri-Valley to support the social development of children and youth. <br /> • There are insufficient workforce development opportunities in the Tri=Valley, <br /> particularly for women, seniors, youth, and the disabled.. <br /> Recommendations: <br /> • Develop a Strategic Plan based on findings from the Eastern Alameda County <br /> 2011 Human Services Needs Assessment: Findings Report <br /> • Increase collaboration to improve outcomes for individual and communities <br /> • Focus on Outreach <br /> • Embrace the Growing Diversity in the Region <br /> • Support the Next Generation of Young Adults <br /> In 2012, the Eastern Alameda County 2011 Human Services Needs Assessment: <br /> Findings Reports was adopted by the City Council and Human Services Commission. <br /> At the direction of the Pleasanton City Council, the Human Services Commission was to <br /> discuss next steps towards the implementation of the Human Services Needs <br /> Assessment: Findings Report. Upon further review of the Needs Assessment, the <br /> Human Services Commission determined that it needed to develop a community <br /> specific Strategic Plan to ensure that the City would carry out its duties in the most <br /> thoughtful and productive manner. As a result, the Human Services Commission <br /> included the development of a Strategic Plan in their annual recommendations to the <br /> City Council. <br /> On April 13, 2013, the City Council adopted its Annual Work Plan for 2013-2015 which <br /> included the development of a Strategic Plan for the Human Services Needs <br /> Assessment. The Strategic Plan would assist the Commission with the analysis of the <br /> data pertaining to local needs, prioritize the issues, identify resources, and develop <br /> goals and strategies for meeting those objectives. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> Human Services Needs Assessment: Strategic Plan <br /> In June 2013, the Human Services Commission and City staff began working with <br /> Resource Development Associates (RDA) on the development of a community specific <br /> Strategic Plan based on the Eastern Alameda County 2011 Human Services Needs <br /> Assessment: Findings Report. <br /> Page 3 of 6 <br />
