THE CITY OF <br /> ,. 1 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> 9 <br /> pLEASANTON. <br /> April 15, 2014 <br /> Community Development <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: ACCEPT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY MOZINGO <br /> CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR THE ANNUAL WATER MAIN <br /> REPLACEMENT, JOHNSON DRIVE PROJECT, CIP NO. 131028 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The project replaced 3,127 linear feet of 12" C-900 PVC water main along Johnson <br /> Drive. The existing line was made of Asbestos Cement Pipe which was installed in the <br /> early 1960's. It was installed behind the concrete curb in the landscaping areas where <br /> several large trees roots were breaking the aged pipe. Customers serviced by this <br /> water line are very high water demand commercial category customers. The new C-900 <br /> PVC pipe was installed in the public right of way and the old line was abandoned in <br /> place. Construction of this project is now complete and ready for acceptance by City <br /> Council. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Accept the project improvements. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the project. <br /> 3. Authorize payment of the retention in the amount of $26,928.02 to Mozingo <br /> Construction, Inc of Oakdale, California, thirty days after the recordation of the <br /> Notice of Completion. <br /> 4. Authorize the transfer of the project unspent balance in the amount of $356,162 to <br /> the Water Replacement Fund balance. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for this project totaled $920,000 as outlined in Attachment 1. Expenditures <br /> totaled $561,796, leaving an unspent balance of $358,204. Staff recommends the <br /> transfer of this unspent balance to the Water Replacement Fund balance. <br />
