MOTION: It was m/s by Cook-Kallio/Pentin, to approve an amendment to the contract with Gates and <br /> Associates for additional services related to preparation of the East Pleasanton Specific Plan. Motion <br /> carried by the following vote: <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, Narum, Pentin, Mayor Thorne <br /> Noes: Councilmember Brown <br /> Absent: None <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL <br /> Mayor Thorne requested Council support to direct staff to prepare a report for the Parks and <br /> Recreation Commission to consider renaming the Sports Park for the late Mayor Ken Mercer. He <br /> acknowledged that city policy requires a five year waiting period following the passing of an individual <br /> but noted that the public interest is not likely to diminish in that time and thought an exception might be <br /> in order. The Council offered its support. <br /> Councilmember Brown asked and Mr. Fialho confirmed that staff intends to present the economic <br /> feasibility report for the East Pleasanton Specific Plan to the Council in March. <br /> COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> Councilmember Narum reported attending a recent conference for newly elected Councilmembers and <br /> Mayors in Sacramento. She also advised the Council and public that she would be riding along with <br /> the county's mosquito abatement technician February 18'h <br /> Vice-Mayor Pentin said he attended the recent forum hosted by Mr. Laird, received a lot of good data, <br /> and encouraged the public to view it online. <br /> Councilmember Brown reported that she, Vice-Mayor Pentin and Mr. Fialho recently attended a liaison <br /> meeting with Livermore representatives. Their meeting included discussion on changes at the <br /> Livermore Airport related to noise, their hopes for extending Bart to Livermore, the Stoneridge Drive <br /> extension and east Pleasanton. <br /> Councilmember Cook-Kallio reported that she, Councilmember Narum and Mr. Fialho attended an <br /> Alameda County Liaison Committee meeting, which is now regularly scheduled every other month. <br /> Supervisor Miley has been very involved in encouraging solid dialogue and seems to really value <br /> everyone's input. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:50 p.m. The Council extended a <br /> tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military.
