THE CITY OF <br /> 1 4 <br /> r= { n e �e <br /> L£ASANTONo CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> March 18, 2014 <br /> Administrative Services <br /> TITLE: INTRODUCE UPCOMING NEGOTIATIONS WITH PLEASANTON <br /> POLICE OFFICERS' ASSOCIATION (PPOA) AND WITH <br /> INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIREFIGHTERS LOCAL 1974 <br /> (IAFF) AND RECEIVE PUBLIC INPUT <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The Memorandums of Understanding (MOU's) for both the Pleasanton Police Officers' <br /> Association (PPOA) and the International Association of Firefighters, Local 1974 (IAFF) <br /> expires in 2014.. Representatives from the City will m eet with representatives of each <br /> Association, in separate negotiation processes, to meet and confer and develop <br /> successor agreements. Since the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department serves the <br /> cities of Livermore and Pleasanton, Livermore representatives will also participate with <br /> Pleasanton representatives in the negotiations with IAFF. <br /> The MOU for employees represented by PPOA is effective through May 31, 2014 and <br /> the MOU for employees represented by IAFF is effective through June 30, 2014. This <br /> public session introduces the matter and allows for open discussion prior to exchanging <br /> final proposals with PPOA and IAFF, and allows the City Council and staff to receive <br /> input from the public on these matters. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council obtain public input regarding negotiations with Pleasanton Police <br /> Officers' Association and with the International Association of Firefighters, Local 1974. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There is no financial impact at this time. However, any subsequent labor contract <br /> negotiated with the Associations will have a fiscal impact on the operating budget. The <br /> impacts will be shared publically when tentative agreements are reached. <br />
