Ayes: Councilmembers Brown, Cook-Kallio, Narum, Pentin, Mayor Thorne Noes: None Absent: None MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL Councilmember Brown requested a future agenda item regarding recognition of Pleasanton's five historic districts, as recognized by the Downtown Historic Context Statement. She clarified that she was not looking to establish and specific rules or regulations but would like to see signage recognizing these particular neighborhoods. The Council offered its support. Councilmember Narum requested and received support to direct staff to schedule an informational session for all stakeholders, including real estate agents, property owners and contractors, on the changes enacted with Public Hearing Item 9. COUNCIL. REPORTS Mayor Thorne reported attending a recent executive board meeting of the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG). Special interest groups have filed suit against ABAG and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission due to what they consider to be flawed data in the One Bay Area plan. Specifically, ABAG excluded the fact that 100,000 plus workers travel over the hill into the Bay Area each day for work in making its calculations. He advised the Council that he would be following the issue closely, as it could have a significant impact on the city's own housing requirements. ADJOURNMENT Mayor Thorne said that Pleasanton lost one of its biggest boosters one week ago today with the untimely passing of former Mayor Ken Mercer. He was a driving force behind the wonderful city of Pleasanton that we know today. We adjourn tonight's meeting in memory of Ken Mercer, who served on the Pleasanton City Council for 16 years.
