As an outcome of that process, the Master Plan outlines specific recommendations <br /> regarding enhancements/expansion of existing facilities, potential for new facilities to <br /> meet current and anticipated future needs and improved maintenance to address some <br /> deferred maintenance issues. In general, the recommendations for expanded and new <br /> facilities are based largely on community input which reflects an overall community <br /> interest in these facilities. <br /> Consistent with ithe overall organization of the Master Plan, the recommendations and <br /> findings related to facilities are listed below: <br /> Facility Changes/Additions to Meet Existing Demand <br /> • One (1) additional large off-leash dog park <br /> • One (1) additional skate park <br /> • Additional lighted synthetic turf multi-use sports fields <br /> Facility Changes/Additions to Meet Anticipated Future Demand <br /> • One (1) off-leash dog park (for a total of two additional dog parks beyond the <br /> current inventory) <br /> • Community Center <br /> • Six (6) additional tennis courts with two (2) constructed at the Pleasanton Tennis <br /> and Community Park. Give consideration to enhanced cooperation with the <br /> PUSD regarding joint use of tennis courts and an option of lighting the high <br /> school tennis courts for meeting future needs <br /> • One (1) additional baseball field <br /> • Emphasize opportunities for synthetic turf at new or existing facilities <br /> Non-Facility Based Recommendations to Meet Current and Future Demand <br /> • Consider revisions to the City's and School District's joint use agreements for <br /> better utilization of facilities <br /> • Pursue additional public/private and/or public/non-profit partnerships to provide <br /> additional or enhanced programming <br /> • Consolidate the Community Services Department in a single facility <br /> • Emphasize opportunities for improved trail connectivity <br /> Maintenance Recommendations <br /> • Improved irrigation systems to improve water conservation <br /> • Parking lot paving improvements <br /> • Resurfacing of basketball courts at various parks <br /> • Improve trails signage at various trails <br /> • Add ADA compliant children play equipment <br /> • Add benches and picnic tables at various parks <br /> • Identify funds for improvements and upgrades to the Dolores Bengtson Aquatic <br /> Center <br /> • Identify funds to develop a renovation program for actively used facilities that <br /> display deferred maintenance issues or need to be updated <br /> Page 5 of 6 <br />
