Labels will help to improve understanding of the indoor/outdoor food <br /> waste/organics program and will help to identify which containers are to be used. Improved labeling will increase the quantity and <br /> quality of compostable materiels collected. <br /> Mini-Grant#: 13-39 Hayward Area Recreation and Park District,Recycling Importance for Creeks and Watersheds Class, <br /> Hayward,West County,$3,000.00-Funds from this grant will be used to develop(10)three hour classes that will educate(10) <br /> classes of fourth through sixth grade age students about the importance of recycling all materials so to not pollute our creeks and <br /> watersheds. Naturalists from the Sulphur Creek Nature Center will teach students to recycle so that wildlife is not harmed by waste <br /> such as motor oil,plastic bottles etc. Students will examine organisms in a classroom and in a creek and will help remove recyclables <br /> from Sulphur Creek that will be put into recycling containers. <br /> Mini-Grant#: 13-40 Hayward Unified School District,Wipe out Waste,Hayward,West County,$1,100.00-Funds from this <br /> grant will be used to create a book club,purchase books on the topic of recycling,and educate students and staff on pollution and <br /> waste reduction. <br /> Mini-Grant#: 13-41 Keep Oakland Beautiful,Keep Oakland Beautiful Supporting OUSD Green Gloves Program,Oakland, <br /> West County,$2,923.00-Funds from this grant will be used to satisfy and support a need within the Oakland Unified School District <br /> waste reduction and sorting Green Gloves Program. A portion of the funds will be used to purchase grabbers to make sorting easier as <br /> well as containers and compost stickers. <br />
