The three-stage composting system will manage the large amount of vegetation from the school <br /> garden. In addition composting from the schools grown vegetables and the school salad bar that generates a good deal of compostable <br /> food and paper. <br /> Mini-Grant#: 13-25 Alameda County Office of Education,Waste Reduction Photography,Hayward,West County,$1,794.49 <br /> -Funds from this grant will be used to purchase a professional quality camera. This camera will be used to report high-quality waste <br /> reduction efforts from Alameda County and to create new image based curricular resources,waste reduction signage,and"how-to" <br /> tool kits.Photos will also be shared through the Service-Learning Waste Reduction Project's Facebook page which is followed by <br /> more than 175 people and organizations. <br /> Mini Grant#: 13-26 Valley Montessori School,Waste Prevention and Recycling Program,Livermore,East County,$1,836.90 <br /> -Funds from this grant will be used to improve the waste and recycling program at Valley Montessori School site by purchasing <br /> uniform,functional waste containers for the classrooms and community gathering areas. The school will also seek to educate the <br /> students further regarding recycling and waste reduction through continuing education. <br /> Mini-Grant#: 13-27 Irvington High School,Reuse and Refill: Say No! to Plastic Bottles,Fremont,West County,$3,000.00- <br /> Funds from this grant will be used to reduce plastic bottles on campus by purchasing and installing a wall mounted drinking fountain <br /> and bottle filling station. <br /> Mini-Grant#: 13-28 Croce Elementary School,Staying on Track with the 4R's,Livermore,East County,$2,825.00-Funds <br /> from this grant will be used to fund an adult to be present and oversee the Trashbusting Line during lunchtime and encourage students <br /> to recycle and compost. Grant funds will also be used to purchase gloves for student Trashbusters. <br /> Mini-Grant#: 13-29 Oakland International High School,Food Scrap Program,Oakland,West County,$3,000.00-Funds from <br /> this grant will be used to compensate student food monitors,teachers and custodial support of the food waste program during <br /> lunchtime. Lunchtime monitors advise students as they separate their lunch waste into five categories;compost,liquid,landfill, <br /> recycling and food share. Without these monitors the program would not be effective in diverting food waste from the landfill. <br /> Mini-Grant#: 13-30 John F.Kennedy High School,JFK Food Scraps to Gardens Recycling Program,Fremont,West County, <br /> $3,000.00-Funds from this grant will be used to reduce food scraps that go to the landfill though a yearlong service learning project. <br />
