As a result of all the information obtained through the process of developing the <br /> Strategic Plan, the Human Services Commission identified four (4) most critical <br /> systemic challenges and six (6) most critical human service needs as having the highest <br /> priority. They include: <br /> Most Critical Systemic Challenges (listed in alphabetical order): <br /> ❖ Lack of consumer information about services/need for education <br /> ❖ Lack of coordination, missed opportunities for collaboration, and duplication of <br /> services among service providers <br /> ❖ Time and cost associated with obtaining services <br /> ❖ Untapped resources <br /> Most Critical Human Service Needs (listed in alphabetical order): <br /> ❖ Disability services and access <br /> ❖ Food and nutrition <br /> ❖ Health care and behavioral health <br /> ❖ Senior services <br /> ❖ Workforce development/unemployment <br /> 4• Youth services <br /> Identification of Strategic Actions <br /> After reviewing research on innovative, promising and best practices, the Human <br /> Services Commission selected strategies that would be most relevant, possible, and <br /> effective in Pleasanton. The Commission's strategic actions to address the most critical <br /> systemic challenges and prioritize human services are: <br /> Strategic Actions (listed in alphabetical order): <br /> ❖ Strategic Action 1: Revise Human Services Commission Grant-making <br /> Protocols/'RFPs to Address Identified Needs and Systemic Challenges. <br /> ❖ Strategic Action 2: Spearhead a Community Engagement and Education <br /> Campaign <br /> ❖ Strategic Action 3: Sponsor Alliance among Nonprofit, Faith-Based, and Public <br /> Agency Providers <br /> ❖ Strategic Action 4: Workforce Development Project <br /> Organizational Priorities <br /> Organizational priorities are those that strengthen the organization internally and ensure <br /> that its members are productive, effective, informed, and competent to meet the <br /> Page 4 of 5 <br />
