Project Grant#: 13-52 Earth Team,Waste Action Project: Green Tours for Green Jobs,Berkeley,West County,$19,186.00- <br /> Funds from this grant will be used to fund a field trip component of Earth Team's Waste Action Project which currently services <br /> Alameda County and West Contra Costa Middle and High Schools,in partnership with Bay Area Green Tours"Zero Waste"program <br /> that will act as a service provider. <br /> Project Grant#: 13-53 Cycles of Change,The Bikery,Oakland,West County,$20,000.00-Funds from this grant will be used to <br /> (1)incorporate recycling as a regular act in the shop to introduce and normalize the culture of recycling and reuse as an everyday <br /> practice.All staff and volunteers will be trained in the employment of reuse and recycling.These practices will be integrated as part of <br /> the Earn-a-Bike and Bike-Go-Round curriculums,(2)Develop a system in The Bikery that makes recycling and reuse relevant to the <br /> community,relay economic benefits,connect to environmental impacts here and in other countries of origin,and provide signage in <br /> different languages,(3)Build and grow reliable sources of recycled bikes,so the bikes can be continued to reuse and redistribute <br /> affordable,sustainable transportation in the community and beyond. <br /> Project Grant#: 13-54 Livermore High School,Installing Dyson Airblades,Livermore,East County,$10,000.00-Funds from <br /> this grant will be used to purchase Dyson Airblades and install them in student and staff restrooms. Successful implementation of the <br /> hand dryers will eliminate the use of paper towels inside all restrooms,cut down on custodial time spent refilling paper dispensers, <br /> and reduce the amount of paper towels taken to the landfill. <br /> Project Grant#: 13-55 Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs(Green Schools Initiative),Striving for Zero Waste,Berkeley, <br /> West County,$32,000.00-Funds from this grant will be used to form and train Green Teams at(7)remaining schools and provide <br /> ongoing less-intensive support to existing Green Teams at(8)other schools,which will be responsible for planning and implementing <br /> waste efforts in this and future years. <br /> Project Grant#: 13-56 Food Shift,FEED(Feeding Empowerment,Ending Dependency),Oakland,West County,$10,000.00- <br /> Funds from this grant will be used to create job training and cultivate self-sufficiency for individuals in the high poverty <br /> neighborhoods of West Oakland,develop revenue-generating business models that utilize excess nutritious food which would <br /> otherwise go to waste,and increase access to the ability to purchase and education about nutritious foods in Oakland's food deserts. <br /> Workers will pick up excess food from farms and businesses and assist in running,managing and redistributing food at a monthly <br /> "Peoples Farmers Market"in communities that have limited access to nutritious foods. <br /> Project Grant#: 13-57 Food Shift,Food Shift and Oakland Unified School District(OUSD)Food Recovery Program, <br /> Oakland,West County,$23,834.58-Funds from this grant will be used to pilot a sustainable,replicable food recovery and donation <br /> program which will eventually be incorporated into all schools within the OUSD. <br /> Project Grant#: 13-58 American High School,Ban the single use bottle,Fremont,West County,$8,875.00-Funds from this <br /> grant will be used to purchase(5)drinking fountains with combination bottle filling stations and replace old dysfunctional drinking <br /> fountains. This will reduce the number of single use drink bottles on campus. <br /> Project Grant#: 13-59 Chabot Space and Science Center,My Year of Trash,Oakland,West County,$5,000.00-Funds from <br /> this grant will be used to(1)engage 50 teens in waste,waste diversion and 4R's topics over the course of a year,resulting in deeply <br /> informed citizens who implement best practices in their own and in their families lives and become stakeholders to change,(2)to <br /> deliver hands-on waste prevention,diversion and recycling education and awareness to the wide range of children,teens and families <br /> who book Chabot-to-Go and/or visit Chabot Space&Science Center. <br /> Project Grant#: 13-60 Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School,Code Green,Alameda,West County,$10,520.00-Funds from <br /> this grant will be used to purchase recycle bins,compost bins and other items needed to enhance the Code Green project. A Code <br /> Green team will be established to review and evaluate the environmental programs on campus. Funds will also be used to teach <br /> students,faculty and staff how to sort their waste into landfill,recycle and compost. Lessons and activities will teach about recycling <br /> and will be incorporated into classroom lessons and outside activities.The goal is for students to understand the importance of <br /> recycling <br /> Project Grant#: 13-61 City of Dublin,Dublin 4R Challenge—Year 3,Dublin,East County,$8,950.00-Funds from this grant <br /> will be used to complete year(3)by funding additional recycling infrastructure,teaching tools,equipment,curriculum and outreach <br /> support. There are(10)schools in the Dublin Unified School District,including(6)elementary schools,(2)middle schools,and(2) <br /> high schools serving over 6,000 students throughout the City of Dublin. The timeframe of this program will allow the City and <br /> District to focus their efforts on ensuring that the program continues to build on the success of year one and two to help ensure that the <br /> program is firmly established at each school,while allowing the district to slowly absorb the ongoing operating costs of program <br /> implementation. <br /> Project Grant#: 13-62 Alameda Point Collaborative,Salvaged Materials Construction Project,Alameda,West County, <br /> $7,302.00-Funds from this grant will be used to purchase salvaged and reclaimed building materials to construct a nursery building. <br /> This grant will also create job graining and employment opportunities focused on preparation and installation of salvaged building <br /> materials for formerly homeless adults living in Alameda Point Collaborative. <br />
