This training package includes an arrest and control dummy, police training suit, and
practice batons. The utilization of this equipment has the potential to increase the
realism of training scenarios and reduce the risk of injury.
• Mini-Tablet Computers for Criminal Invest. & Community Svcs. Units $6,800
Mini-tablets are smaller versions of the tablet but utilize the same technology. The use
of these devices will provide an increased ability to solve crimes and apprehend
criminals, including the capability of sending/receiving photos of suspects or missing
persons, identifying stolen property via digital photos, display photo lineups, GPS and
mapping features to aid with perimeters and crime scene locations, and immediate
access to legal references and case law via the internet. The mini-tablets also would
include a still camera, video camera, computer, and notepad all in one device.
As the utilization of social media has radically increased in the past few years, the ability
to stay connected with the community has become ever so important. The purchase of
the mini-tablets for the Youth and Community Services Unit will afford them the means
to do this.
• Forensic Link Analysis $2,800
Rapid technology growth in the cellular phone industry has quickly surpassed the
capabilities of the Police Department's current cellular phone forensic device. In order
to keep up with the rapid evolution and advancement in technology and the growing
market of mobile devices, the department is in need of state of the art tools to extract
data from new mobile devices. One of the tools is the Universal Forensic Extraction
Device Link Analysis. This is a new application which immediately identifies and
visualizes the connections and communications methods used between multiple mobile
devices.
• Reporting Software $12,400
The Police Department currently has a robust database which collects information
which is essential to our mission of providing police services to the community.
Unfortunately the interface and reporting side of the product does not meet the needs of
the department. Just as important as collecting data, is the ability to retrieve data in a
way that makes sense and assists the end user. Standalone software is available
which will work with our existing database to retrieve and display information in a highly
recognizable format. Reports can be automated to run at specific times and
disseminated to specific people.
• Patrol/Traffic Rifles $9,200
Rifles are primarily issued to patrol personnel leaving several officers in the Traffic Unit
and Investigations Unit without a rifle. As each rifle is sighted specifically to each officer
it is incumbent that he/she be assigned their own rifle. Personnel in the Traffic and
Investigations Units may be the first responding officers to an incident; it is
advantageous that each have immediate access to a rifle.
