DISCUSSION
Stoneridqe Drive
The segment from Trevor Parkway to El Charro Road consists of four lanes divided by a
concrete median and is currently posted with a 35 mph limit. The current speed limit is
not enforceable as it was not evaluated through a speed zoning process, nor has it
been added to the speed limit ordinance as required by the California Vehicle Code.
The signs were installed as part of the construction of the road. The critical speed was
measured at 43 mph. This critical speed would suggest a 45 mph limit, but with the
land use consisting of park, senior housing and the nearby school, staff is
recommending the 5 mph reduction for a final recommended limit of 40 mph.
EI:egend
--trail ti Future Commercial
--speed limit sign
F a
m --survey segment ck
--survey location
--trail access
c,-API-Es RAN(Pi DR
Continuing Care
Retirement
MAK el (ommunit)
,
ti
Undeveloped
•
y,e
-hER GE DR
Residential Residential
The current ordinance lists a segment from Newton Way to the end of Stoneridge Drive.
With Stoneridge Drive now going through to Livermore, staff is recommending that the
reference to "the end of Stoneridge Drive" now read Trevor Parkway. This change does
not affect the speed limit or the physical limits of this particular segment.
