Ordinance No.2083 <br /> Page 18 <br /> R507.1 Decks. Where supported by attachment to an exterior wall, decks shall be <br /> positively anchored to the primary structure and designed for both vertical and lateral <br /> loads as applicable. Such attachment shall not be accomplished by the use of toenails <br /> or nails subject to withdrawal. Where positive connection to the primary building <br /> structure cannot be verified during inspection, decks shall be self- supporting. For <br /> exterior balconies with cantilevered framing members, connections to exterior walls or <br /> other framing members, shall be designed and constructed to resist uplift resulting from <br /> the full live load specified in Table R301.5 acting on the cantilevered portion of the <br /> exterior balcony. <br /> 20.10.120 CRC Section R506.2.4 amended — Reinforcement support. <br /> Section R506.2.4 is amended to read as follows: <br /> R506.2.4 Reinforcement support. Where provided in slabs on ground, reinforcement <br /> shall be supported to remain in place from the center to upper one third of the slab for <br /> the duration of the concrete placement. As a minimum, and in all cases where a slab is <br /> to be placed inside of a building, the slab shall be reinforced with not less than six <br /> inches by six inches ten gauge welded wire mesh, or an approved alternate. <br /> In all slabs under habitable spaces, a minimum of 4 inches (102 mm) of crushed rock <br /> capillary water barrier shall be provided under a minimum 10 mil vapor retarder.
