Mayor Hosterman thanked Safeway for its support as a corporate donor in the <br /> community and made note that Foothill High School also participated in the "We the People" <br /> competition and came in second in the State. <br /> Pamela Ott, Economic Development Director, announced the businesses celebrating <br /> their 15-year anniversary and thanked them for their service to the Pleasanton community. <br /> Steve Woodward, a Pleasanton resident addressed the Council regarding bicycle <br /> transportation in the area. He commented on the increase of construction debris and requested <br /> the Vineyard Avenue project include a bicycle path. <br /> Mr. Fialho noted the matter would be given to the Public Works director to respond. <br /> 6_ PUBLIC HEARINGS&OTHER MATTERS <br /> 6a <br /> Draft Bernal Property Phase II Specific Plan. Draft Bernal Community Park Master Plan, <br /> and the Combined Final Environmental Impact Report for Both Plans(SR 06:142) <br /> Wayne Rasmussen, Planning Consultant, presented the staff report. <br /> 1. Consideration of certification of the Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the <br /> combined Bernal Property Phase II Specific Plan and Bernal Community Park Master <br /> Plan project. <br /> 2. Consideration of adoption of the Bernal Property Phase II Specific Plan for the 318-acre <br /> City-owned property located south of Bernal Avenue along both sides of 1-680. Plans <br /> call for the future development of a series of potential public and quasi-public facilities <br /> within an open space/park-like setting. <br /> 3. Consideration of adoption of the Bernal Community Park Master Plan for approximately <br /> 50-acres located in the eastern portion of the Phase II Specific Plan area. Plans call <br /> primarily for a series of lighted sports fields and related facilities (SR 06:142) <br /> Mr. Fialho stated that Wayne Rasmussen would introduce the matter with a <br /> presentation. Staff is asking the Council to certify or adopt the documents this evening. The <br /> next meeting will have the draft ballot language to address this issue; later this summer a <br /> detailed financing plan will be presented. He said that this property is a high priority for the <br /> Council and he is excited to make the presentation this evening. <br /> Wayne Rasmussen, Planning Consultant, presented the report to the Council. <br /> Mayor Hosterman asked about which issues would need to be voted on at this meeting. <br /> Council is being asked to take 'straw votes' on several recommendations in order to direct staff. <br /> She asked if the Council would be voting on issues raised by the Commissions. <br /> Mr. Rasmussen clarified the items for the straw vote.
