• American Sign Language (ASL) <br /> Upon written recommendation of the Department Head, Human Resources may approve <br /> a bilingual assignment once the employee has undergone appropriate testing and been <br /> certified as bilingual. The City reserves the right to terminate a bilingual assignment <br /> when it is determined that the need for such assignment no longer exists. <br /> Section 9. Standby Time <br /> Standby time is that amount of specific and predetermined time that an employee is <br /> required to be on call in addition to the normal work day and shall be compensated at a <br /> rate of pay equal to twenty (20) hours of pay for each seven (7) day period spent on <br /> standby. The hours of daily standby duty for water division employees and sanitary <br /> sewer division employees shall be 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The requirement that <br /> employees in the classification of Utilities Systems Operator I and Utilities Systems <br /> Operator II work standby shall be set forth in the job descriptions of such classifications. <br /> Section 10. Training Pay: Police Dispatcher/Community Service Officer <br /> Police Dispatchers assigned to train new Police Dispatchers as part of a formal <br /> departmental training program shall be paid an additional five percent (5%) of their <br /> regular hourly rate of pay for each hour of assigned training. <br /> Community Service Officers assigned responsibility to train new Community Service <br /> Officers as part of a formal departmental training program shall be paid five percent(5%) <br /> of their regular hourly rate of pay for each hour of assigned training. <br /> Section 11. Holidays <br /> 11.1 Observed Holidays <br /> The holidays to be observed are as follows: <br /> a. January 1 <br /> b. The third Monday in January known as "Martin Luther King Day" <br /> c. The third Monday in February, known as "Washington Day" <br /> d. The last Monday in May known as "Memorial Day" <br /> e. July 4 <br /> f. The first Monday in September known as "Labor Day" <br /> g. The eleventh day of the eleventh month, known as "Veterans Day" <br /> h. Thanksgiving Day <br /> i. The Friday following Thanksgiving Day <br /> j. Christmas Eve Day <br /> k. December 25 <br /> -14 - <br />
