CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 846 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE ADDING ARTICLE 10 (HORSE ORDINANCE) TO <br /> CHAPTER 2 (TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AND REGULATIONS <br /> RELATING TO VEHICULAR AND pEDESTRIAN MOVEMENT), OF <br /> TITLE V (VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC, STREETS AND HIGHWAYS) <br /> OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF pLEASANTON <br /> CONCERNING HORSE TRAFFIC ON MAIN STREET AND IN SHOP- <br /> PING CENTERS- <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF pLEASANTON DOES <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Article 10 (Horse Traffic), is added to Chapter 2 (Traffic <br /> Control Devices and Regulations Relating to Vehicular and <br /> pedestrian Movement), of Title V (Vehicles and Traffic, <br /> Streets and Highways) of the Ordinance Code of the City of <br /> pleasanton to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Sec. 5-1.60 Intent. It is the intent of the City <br /> Council of the City of Pleasanton by adoption <br /> of this ordinance to provide for the safety of <br /> pedestrians and vehicle drivers as well as horses <br /> and their riders on the streets and sidewalks <br /> of the City of Pleasanton- The Council finds <br /> and declares that there are certain areas in <br /> the City of pleasanton which due to pedestrian <br /> and vehicular traffic endanger horses, their <br /> riders and pedestrians and therefore equestrian <br /> activities should be limited or prohibited in <br /> those areas. <br /> <br /> Sec. 5-1.61 Definitions- <br /> <br /> a. "Horse" shall include any mules, burro, pony, <br /> jack or jenny. <br /> b. "Main Street" means Main Street in the City <br /> of Pleasanton running from its intersection <br /> with Sunol Avenue to its intersection with <br /> Stanley Boulevard- <br /> <br /> c. "Shopping Center" means any area in a C-N <br /> CNeighborhood Commercial), C-C (Central <br /> Commercial) or C-R (.Regional Commercial) <br /> Zoning District that has been developed <br /> with commercial uses. The term shall further <br /> include all buildings, parking lots, <br /> driveways, walkways and public sidewalks <br /> bordering the shopping center. <br /> <br /> d. "Equestrian Trail" means any trail desig- <br /> nated by the City Council as such. <br /> <br /> <br />
